Excessive Zikr without Reformation

Excessive Zikr without Reformation

Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (rahmatullahi ‘alaih) once mentioned:

Through merely engaging in excessive zikr, one will not succeed in gaining reformation in one’s life. Gaining reformation is dependent on correcting one’s actions and reforming one’s conduct (i.e. correcting one’s relationship with Allah Ta‘ala and His servants). The effect caused in one’s heart through a’amaal is only strengthened through the zikr. Zikr only serves as a motivation to assist one towards the path one is treading. However, in today’s times many people who are ignorant of deen confine their effort upon zikr, and do not pay any attention to improving and correcting their actions and bringing it in conformity to the mubaarak sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Fazail e Zikr

Once Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said, "The mufarrideen have gone far ahead." "Who are the mu- farrideen?" enquired the Sahabah. Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) replied, "Those who are intensely de- voted to the zikr of Allah." On the basis of this hadith, the Sufis have stated that the kings and rulers should not be prevented from zikr of Allah, for they, by this means, can attain a lofty rank in the Hereafter.

Tawba

The sign of true Tawba (repentance) is that a person begins to have a deep dislike for that particular sin.

Surah al Baqarah

Surah al Baqarah The Prophet said, ‘The Qur’an and those who committed themselves to it will be presented on the Day of judgement, preceded by Surah al-Baqarah and Surah al Imran’.[Muslim 805] Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, “Do not turn your houses into graves. Shaitan is barred from any house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited.” [Muslim 780, 4: 1707] The Prophet said, ‘Whoever recites 4 verses from the first part of Surah al Baqarah, the verse of the Throne, two verses after the verse of the Throne and three verses from the last part of Surah al Baqarah, the last raku before surh ale imran (amman ar rasuloo bima unzila ilayhi wal mummenoon) Satan would never come near him or the members of his family on that day, and nothing he despises would come near him or the members of his family, and never are these verses recited over a madman without him regaining his consciousness’ [Darimi 3249/A in the Book of Excellence of the Quran; an-Nasai in the Deeds during the Day and Night; Ibn Hibban & Tabrani] Abu Umamah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Recite Surah al-Baqarah: for to hold on to it is a barakah (blessing), to leave it is a regret’ [Muslim] Abu Umamah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said ‘Read the two radiant ones al-Baqarah and Al ‘Imran for they will come on the Day of Resurrection like two clouds, or two shades, or two flocks of birds, pleading for their companions’ [Muslim]

What Buddhist Scripture Says About Muhammad

What Buddhist Scripture Says About Muhammad The Buddha leader Gautama, has prophesized the coming of an inspired person. In the Gospel of Buddha by Caras (pp. 217-8) it is written that this great Buddha will come to the world known as the "Maitreya". The Cakkavatti-Sihanada Suttana gives him the name "Metteyya". Both these words mean "The Merciful One". By reference to the life-history of Muhammad (p.b.u.h.), it can be seen that he was indeed extremely merciful and the Al-Qur'an also refers to this fact. There are further similarities, as the Buddhist Scripture reads: "His (Maitreya) disciples will number many thousands, while mine number many hundreds". It is a known fact that with Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) were thousands followers. There are further similarities, which will be elucidated below. In the Gospel of Buddha (by Carus - p214), an enlightened Buddah is described as having a very bright skin and that, a Buddha attains supreme insight at night time, he dies naturally at night, looks very bright before his death, and finally, after his death he ceases to exist on the earth. All these points can be applied to the holy prophet of Islam. (Read his life story). In Si-Yu-Ki, Vol I, p.229, it is written that "... no words can describe the personal beauty of Maitreya". Again we leave it up to you to examine the history of Islam in detail; both muslims and nonmuslims are almost unanimous in asserting that Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was very handsome and beautiful indeed. Si-Yu-Ki Vol I. (p.229) further reads "..the exquisite voice of the Bodhisattva (Maitreya) is soft and pure and refined; those who listen can never tire, those who hear are never satiated." The Arabic language is remarkable for its beauty. Furthermore, the holy Qur'an is considered a work of the highest unique literary merit by friend and foe alike. Buddhist Scriptures have defined further characteristics of Buddha. In order to qualify for the Maitreya, he must satisfy those conditions. A Buddha must be a human being - not a diety. A Buddha must have five special gifts, viz. The gift of treasure, the gift of child, the gift of wife, the gift of rule (i.e. leaderhip, headstatesman) and the gift of life and limb. In addition, the Buddha would be teacherless, i.e. without any form of formal education. Gautama has also stressed that the Buddha is simply a man, salvation depends only on an individuals deeds, the Buddha can only preach - he does not have the claim of being in part supernatural. The characteristics above are all in accordance with the life of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.). Another similarity which should be mentioned is that for every enlightened Buddha, there is a special "Bo-tree". Some modern commentators believe that the "Bo-tree" of the Maitreya is a tree with hard or heay wood. The prophet (p.b.u.h.) had a tree at Hodebbeyyaa, which was the place of an important treaty. The Qur'an gives the name "Shajar" to this tree (Surah 48:Verse 18). "Shejar" according to some scholars refer to any tree with a hard stem. Again it is highly remarkable that such close similarity should exist.

Surah al Fatihah

Surah al Fatihah Ibn ‘Abbas said, “While Jibril (alayhis salam) was sitting with the Prophet, he heard a sound above him and raised his head. He said, ‘This is a door of heaven which has been opened today and which has never been opened before today. An angel descended from it.’ He said, ‘This is an angel who has descended to earth who has never descended before today.’ He gave the greeting and said, ‘Give the good news of two lights which you have been given and which no Prophet before you was given: the Fatiha of the Book and the end of Surah al-Baqarah (2). You will not recite a letter of them without being given it.’”[Muslim, Riyad as-Salihin by Imam an-Nawawi] Anas (radhi Allah anhu) said: “When you recite Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Ikhlas upon lying on your bed, you will be safeguarded and should become fearless of every thing except death.” [Narrated by Baraa', Tafseer Mazhari 1:31]

Bismillah

Saying ‘Bismillah’ The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said that it is one of the names of Allah the distance between it and Allah’s greatest name, is but like the distance between the black and white of the eye seen from a close angle.[Hakim & Dhahabi] Ibn Abbas (radiAllahu anhu) said, concerning ‘Bismillah’, Allah evolved it for you, and never had He evolved it unto any community before you. [Hakim]
